Read, drag, clip — the Transcript Clip Maker
Upload a long video to the Clip Workspace and get the whole transcript. Drag across the lines you want, stitch separate moments into one clip and export it as a vertical short. Transcription runs on your device.
How to clip a video by its transcript in 3 steps
01. Upload and get the transcript
Drop a file or paste a YouTube link and the full transcript is made on your device. It keeps going while you work in other tabs and opens right here when it's ready.
02. Drag across the lines you want
Drag across words in the transcript, or across the filmstrip in the timeline, to pick a moment. Pick several and Play selections lets you hear them stitched together.
03. Save as a clip and export
Save your selections as a clip you can rename and come back to. Export renders it as a captioned 9:16 vertical MP4.
Separate moments, one clip
Pick a line from early in the video and a conclusion from much later, and they're stitched into one clip. Selections always stay in time order, and you can drag an edge on the timeline to fine-tune the length.
Search, and cut the filler words
Search the transcript to jump straight to a topic, and switch on Filler words to cut "um" and "uh" from exported clips. Click any word to jump the video there.
Ask AI for the moments
From Pro, AI Chat reads the transcript and suggests moments worth clipping. Ask "pull together everything about hiring" and it can join separate parts into one moment, ready to select or save as a clip.
Why Shorts Zone
Never cut mid-sentence
Every short starts and ends on a sentence boundary, so nothing stops halfway through a thought.
A virality score for every short
A 0–100 score, a first-3-seconds check and one honest note make it easy to pick what to post.
Your video stays on your device
Cutting, captions and rendering all run in your browser. Only transcript text is sent to the AI.
Paste a YouTube link
The Shorts Zone Link helper downloads it on your own computer. Drive and Dropbox links and files work too.
Korean, English, Japanese, Dutch, Italian and Traditional Chinese
Transcribe and caption in all six languages. From Pro, translate captions into any of the other five.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Clip Workspace free?
Yes. Transcription runs on your device, so reading the transcript, picking and deleting lines and generating clips are free, with no limit on video length or count. Clips made on Free are 720p with a watermark. Finding moments with the AI chat is part of Pro, MAX and Ultra.
How is this different from Generate shorts?
Generate shorts lets AI pick the moments and makes many shorts at once. The Clip Workspace lets you read the transcript and choose the exact lines yourself — best when you already know what you want to say.
Can I combine several parts into one clip?
Yes. Select several ranges and they're stitched together in time order as one clip. Play selections lets you hear the result first.
What does the exported clip look like?
A 9:16 vertical MP4, captioned in the style of your current template, with the speaker kept in the middle of the frame. If Filler words is on, the fillers are cut too.
Can I use a YouTube link?
Yes. While the Shorts Zone Link helper downloads it on your computer, a progress card sits in the workspace, and transcription starts as soon as it's in. You can work in other tabs meanwhile.
