Compress to an exact size
Type a target in MB and the bitrate is worked out from the video's length. If that size is too tight for the resolution, it steps down to a lower one — a clean 720p instead of a blocky 1080p.
Always smaller than the original
The video bitrate never goes above 85% of the source, so re-compressing a small file won't make it bigger. The result is an H.264 MP4 that plays everywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Will the quality drop a lot?
Balanced aims to look the same as the original on a phone screen. Use High for screen recordings with lots of text, Small when you just need it sent.
Can I fit a Discord or email size limit?
Type a number a little under the limit (for example 24 for a 25 MB limit). Audio and container overhead are included in the math.
Is my video stored anywhere?
No. The file never leaves your device — it's processed inside this tab with WebCodecs. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
Is there a file size limit?
Up to 2 GB per file. The result is held in your browser's memory, so on devices with little RAM smaller files are safer.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox. Speed depends on your device — desktop Chrome and Edge are usually the fastest.
